HW 7b - Reading Schedule

Omnivore's Dilemma: Young Readers' Edition chapter 10
Vegetables are a big deal in the U.S. and need to be cared for to make sure it reaches the supermarkets safely and fresh. What people don't know is that the farmers have their hands full keeping the vegetables fresh. For example the lettuce we eat before reaching the supermarkets need to be washed, need to be kept under a certain room temperature, and the leaves need to be sorted.  Also most people dont know how much of a struglle this is. Imagine having to wash 2.5 million pounds of lettuce each week. Now i dont know about you but that's more lettuce than i would wanna see in a week.
Quote:On page 125, "The plant washes and packs 2.5 million pounds of lettuce a week."
Thoughts: This blew my mind.I cant believe dat farmers work this hard.I truly believe dat farmers work to much and don't get paid as much as they should.
