HW 12 - Final Food Project 2 - Outline

Thesis: Individual living in our culture must recognize and respond to the nightmarish industrial atrocities at the root of dominant social practices in order to live a morally satisfactory life.
Argument #1: Many of the dominant social practices in our society is considered “normal,” however if we dig deeper and find out what the big companies don’t want us to know (the whole story) then the citizens of the United States will end up finding nightmarish and industrial atrocities. One of these nightmarish atrocities being, what process did the foods go through to get to the supermarket. Another example would be, not many people know what really happens in these “farms.” Processed foods(Fast foods) we eat have added chemicals in them. These chemicals are added to the foods just so the companies could make more money for themselves by having there foods ready for shipment at a faster rate. Keep in mind that these foods get shipped everywhere, for example they get shipped to Mc.Donalds and supermarkets. Also a lot of these processed foods are very unhealthy for us. One could even debate that the foods we eat isn’t even real food. The reason people are starting to think this is because chickens, cows, and pigs are now getting dipped into so many chemicals that when they are “ready” for shipment the flavors and the coloring is not natural it’s processed.
Evidence
: Omnivore’s dilemma young readers editionEvidence: Still rising obesity rates
Argument #2: Fast foods restaurants are so easy to come across nowadays that it’s no wonder obesity rates are increasing. However this isn’t necessarily only the peoples fault because the companies are promoting this.
