U.S citizens choosing abortion over premarital adoption
In today’s modern society women have two options to choose from when dealing with birth, they could either have the baby or not have the baby. Now if the mother decides to have the baby that’s great and she just opened a new chapter in her life. However if the mother for what ever reason decides to not have the child there are either two things you could do, being she could have an abortion or the mom could choose to but the baby up for adoption.
It’s only natural that a pregnant women that doesn’t want the child would either kill the child and do an abortion or choose to give it up and put it up for adoption. In fact based on my resources I found out that 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient). I also found out that the amount of abortions happening in the U.S. is very high. In the United States the number of abortions happening per year is Approximately 42 Million, with Approximately 115,000 abortions happening per day. (Alan)
It appears as though in the U.S there are much more women deciding to go through with abortion over premarital adoption. For example In the 1970’s there was only 8.7% of women putting there child up for adoption, and the percentage has only decreased since then. In addition in the U.S. there is only a mere 2% of unmarried women placing their child up for adoption. This is shocking to me because I would think that the mother after dealing with the 9 months of labor and actually giving birth all by themselves would leave them wanting a companion, but as statistics show the woman actually don’t want to deal with there baby. ("Placing Children")
Undoubtedly there are many reasons on why pregnant women would want to adopt there child or go with the abortion option. However over the years it appears as though the women in the United states don’t want to give up there child because over the years adoption rates have decreased but would much rather kill it, which proved that some women just don’t want the companion of a baby for whatever reason. However this whole project got me thinking that maybe adoption is the better way to go but of course this is only my opinion and everyone is entitled to have there own opinions.

Johnny,
ReplyDeleteIn your project you decided to look at alternatives of raising a child. The two alternatives you chose to look at were abortion and adoption.
I liked that for your project, you did not just use a random source from the internet. You actually read a book and gathered evidence to support your argument. Most high school teenagers wouldn’t do that.
To make your project better, I would suggest you use your words carefully. I know that sounds mean but I mean it in the kindest way possible. In your post you used the phrase, “kill the baby”, that is a heavy line. Abortion is a very delicate and controversial topic and like Andy said, “always talk about abortion as if someone in the room has had one.”
I liked the topic you choose.I learned new things here that i never even thought about. What you are learning is sooo cool.
ReplyDeleteIn your project I liked how you use a whole lot of evidence to back up everything you're saying.
To make this project better i would say make it longer andcheck some new evidence to put into this blog
This blog made me think about the past birth's i had to go to because of my wife. The first thing i want to say is, i could tell you took sometime to find research, because you basically have research on everything your saying to back up what you're saying. I also liked how you were very informative in your blog by putting up statistics on how the birthing process has changed throughout the years. However one thing that i would do to better this post is to, come up with new insights either by looking some new things up, or watching some videos. And try to make this more interesting to read to get the reader to enjoy reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteYour project focused on the alternative choices of adoption and abortion. Mainly, sharing your ideas on the topic without bias.
ReplyDeleteI found the statistical evidence you provided to be interesting. Knowing that abortion was not as accepted back in the 70's it would make perfect sense that women would have to choose adoption.
I decided to read your project since I only covered the topic of abortion, I wanted to gain more knowledge on the alternative option.
In order to better your project, I believe you could have created a more solid argument instead of comparing and contrasting your personal ideas. Looking forward to seeing a revised version in the near future!
Based off of what I read in your project, I now have a much clearer idea of the two most commonly chosen options within the circle of pregnant women and couples seeking premarital adoption. The way your project was worded was very interesting to me; unlike most other projects who sought to get the same idea across, yours was very factual and had a lot of gritty remarks in it such as “This is shocking to me because I would think that the mother after dealing with the 9 months of labor and actually giving birth all by themselves would leave them wanting a companion, but as statistics show the woman actually don’t want to deal with there baby.” I would hope to see a more organized version of your project in the future that more clearly defines the different choices, benefits and cons of abortion or premarital adoption.
