HW 24 - Illness & Dying Book, Part 3

Author: Mitch Albom
Title: Tuesdays with Morrie
publisher: Doubleday
Year published:  1997
Precis:
Morrie has been such had such a positive impact in my life, and for that i am very thankful. Morrie was more than a teacher to me. He was like my mentor and the person that i went to whenever i needed advice. Morrie was such a good man and the way he handled his slow death with such positive thinkings and intentions made him a even stronger man. I am very thankful that Morrie's death became noticed and was put on the television because im sure that this has helped other people just like it has helped me. Morrie made me realize that death doesn't have to be such a bad thing and it all depends on you, and how you want to spend your last few days alive.
Quotes:
On page 174, "As long as we can love eachother, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. The way I interpreted this quote was, if the ones that loved us dont forget about us we aren't really gone because we are still thought about.
On pae 182, "Morrie hadn't chewed food like this in months, we both knew that, but it had become a small tradition. Sometimes, when you're losing someone, you hang on to whatever tradition you can." This reminded me that people try to do anything to remember the person before they got ill. Like Mitch's tradidtions I to used to have litlle traditions with my close family members and still tried to do them even when my dear one was ill as a way to remind me of the good times we had before and how close we used to be.
On page 199, " I can never put into words how humbled i am by all this, and how proud i am for Morrie that his gentle wisdom is settled like a snowfall on various streets around the world." This quote reminded me that Mitch is a very understanding guy and this quote also reminded me how Mitch really grew attached to Morrie. I believe that Mitch will never forget Morrie and even though Morrie is dead i believe that Mitch feels nothing but joy and gratitude.
Thoughts on book:
This books was very insightful. It made me think about things i never thought of before. This book also made me realize that dying doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. One of the things that i never thought of was how someone could act so calmly and think so positively when they know that they only have a few more months to live. Morrie was a very inspirational  man indeed and  Mitch is very lucky to have known Morrie personaly. Other than thinking so positively he was a very wise man and knew just what to say whenever Mitch needed advice. I would give this book a 10 out of 10 because this book will make you think of things you never thought of before and it is so informative.
