Precis: Morrie was everything to me. He was more than my teacher, he was my friend. After i found out that Morrie was going to die i felt as though it was my job to make the rest of his life the best it could possibly be. One day when i was watching television I heard Morrie's name and I saw my classroom and i saw myself in the television. It reminded me of the good times we had together and how close we were. This reminded me of the past but ever since Morrie died things have changed. I don't even see any of my collage friends anymore or even talk to them. It was as if Morrie was the one holding everybody's friendship together and once he died everyone started seeing each other less and less until we would no longer see each other again.
The quote on page 14, "In fact, i lost contact with most of the people i knew in college, including my beer-drinking friends and the first women i ever woke up with in the morning." Made me realize that someone's death can not only affect you emotionally but it can also affect your relationship with the ones that you were once close to. This quote also proves that someone's death can impact your friendships with others because the other guy or in this case morrie was the one that brung everyone together.
The quote on page 20,"I usually don't talk about such things with people i've only known a few minutes" Made me realize that Being closer to your death makes you want to be less to yourself and let people know what you feel, how your life was, etc. This also made me come about to the realization that time is precious in your last few days, so you need to make the most of it.
The quote on page 19, "Next thing you knew, there were cameramen in Morrie's living room and koppel's limousine was in front of the house. Made me realize that the time one has left is very precious and you have to make the most of it. I also realized one should take any opportunities that come there way. Unless if it is a demeaning opportunity your getting. This quote also proves that people are very interested and more willing to learn and help a ill person. For we feel pity and want to help ill people because it seems to be the only logical and right thing to do.
The book, "Tuesdays with Morrie" can connect to events that have happened in my life because, in the book The student of Morrie felt as though he needed to make Morrie's Final days the most enjoyable until he died. This can compare to events in my life because whenever i was visiting my ill grandmother i would give her whatever she wanted and I tried to make her days the most enjoyable she has ever had. The way morrie died could also compare to that of my grandmother because morrie decided to make the best of life and do whatever he could to make his last few days enjoyable. This compares to the way my grandmother dealt with her final days because, she also tried to make her final days enjoyable. She spent a lot of time with family and the ones closest to her. So I learned that dying isn't necessarily a bad thing and it is just a part of life that everybody has to go through. I also learned that since everyone dies it would be best to not die in a close minded way and to try and make your final days the most enjoyable.
