HW 18 - Health & Illness & Feasting

This years thanksgiving  was practically the same as every year. Thanksgiving is practically one of the few times in a year that completely fills in the role of our countries practices, this also relates to physicality. However over the years thanksgiving seems to be losing its meaning of spending time with the family and is becoming less traditional and less cultural  and more about eating food and stuffing your face. For example almost ever year me, my parents, my brothers, my sister, my grandmother and uncle go to my godmothers house to celebrate the holiday. However this year we had thanksgiving in my house and my grandmother and uncle didn't seem to happy to be at my house. It's as if they wanted to be somewhere else. However they knew that there was going to be a lot of food in my house so they took advantage and come to my house.
Traditionally my family and I don't sit around the television and watch football. Although it is a very american  game and many people like to watch this sport my family and I are not big fans of football and therefore we don't watch football. However my family and i do gather around the television and watch spanish channels such as television and we even watch other sports such as soccer. These two activities such as stuffing your face and watching t.v. with family aren't necessarily "Healthy" things to do, However this proves how thanksgiving is one of the few times where body-centered practices dominate over anti body practices.
Completely devoted social practices one day out of the year is not a bad thing in my opinion. I think this because almost all the other holidays are connected with your brain. For example after consuming all of that food you tend to feel worse and you feel so lazy to the point were you don't even want to get up off from your seat. This  is another example that shows that thanksgiving is becoming more about body-centered practices and less about  anti-body practices.
